Northumbria Branch History

The Northumbria branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association was formally created on April 1993 by a handful of keen local wallers. The branch steadily expanded through the 1990s and for the last few years has been relatively stable with between 40 and 50 members

Each year the branch provides taster days for newcomers to walling and practice days for member wallers wanting to brush up their skills. These taster and practice days are run by qualified walling instructors from the branch.

In 2006 the branch registered as a Lantra certification center and in that year 6 of our members achieved certification at either initial or intermediate level.
